As part of PENN Entertainment’s ongoing commitment to supporting veterans and active duty military, the company created the PENN Entertainment Military Scholarship at Penn State Berks. The scholarship will be awarded through a multi-year $50,000 commitment and further support the local community of Berks County where PENN’s corporate headquarters is located.
Penn State Berks is committed to helping student veterans and active duty military students achieve their educational goals while providing a supportive environment. Currently, nearly 50 student veterans are enrolled at Penn State Berks. The scholarship may be awarded to veterans, active duty, reservists, or members of the National Guard with demonstrated financial need.
“We are pleased to partner with Penn State Berks to create this scholarship, which strengthens our support for the military and our local community,” said Eric Schippers, senior vice president of public affairs and chairman of the ESG committee for PENN Entertainment. “PENN is passionate about honoring and empowering our nation’s heroes and this scholarship adds to our overall military recruitment and recognition efforts.”
Todd Migliaccio, interim chancellor of Penn State Berks, said, “Opportunities like the PENN Entertainment Military Scholarship are important, not only to financially support our student veterans so they can focus on their academic success, but also to let them know they are important members of Penn State Berks campus community.”
Each scholarship is awarded for one academic year and may be renewed if the recipient continues to meet eligibility conditions and funds are available.
