Eurochild indicators joint observation developed by people and supporters of the Thematic Community ‘DisQo – anti-discrimination & health equity
No topic the increasing proof exhibiting that structural, institutional, and interpersonal racism and discrimination affect each physical and psychological health inequities in more than one ways, the topic has won too little consideration in the public health enviornment to date. We, the undersigned organisations, working across sectors, commit to taking an vigorous stance against all forms of racism and discrimination and call for decision-makers at all ranges, including the European Commission, to note suit.
Together, we now acquire identified five key priorities for addressing the topic in a optimistic, respectful, and participatory diagram:
- Recognise racism and discrimination as classic determinants of health, equity and effectively-being
- Beef up social participation of racialised and discriminated communities, and foster diversity, representation and anti-discrimination
- Extend readability and consistency of key definitions linked to racism, discrimination and health equity
- Get more (health) equality information, disaggregated by indicators on more than one grounds of discrimination, and harmonise EU information sequence
- Beef up existing EU anti-discrimination guidelines by breaking down silos and boosting policy mainstreaming, transparency, reparative justice and social participation
