A particular individual that murdered a stranger claiming he used to be acting in self-defence has been convicted.
At Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday, 18 April, Robbie Munoz, 22 (15.04.01) of Belmont Avenue, Wallington, used to be found responsible of murdering 29-365 days-outmoded Reece Williams from Greenwich.
He’s as a result of of be sentenced on Monday, 5 June.
Reece used to be fatally stabbed on Welland Avenue in Greenwich on 31 July 2021 and despite the efforts of his mates and emergency products and services, died rapidly after the assault.
Officers found Munoz end to the scene suffering a stab harm. After speaking to witnesses, officers established his injury had been sustained during the assault on Reece.
He used to be arrested and later charged with kill.
Detectives also found a quilt for the knife end to the scene with forensics linking it to Munoz. The knife, which had a blade of spherical 25cm, used to be chanced on in a bin shed at a end-by block of flats.
During trial, Munoz claimed he acted in self-defence.
Witnesses described how Reece had been the one to procedure Munoz and the pair had an argument earlier than Reece punched him. He had then walked away and opinion the dispute used to be over.
At this point, Munoz took the knife out of his rucksack, chased Reece and stabbed him a number of instances. Reece’s mates tried to intervene but were unable to discontinue the assault.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood, who led the investigation, acknowledged: “What began off as a petty argument ended in 1 man being murdered and one other now likely to use a in fact intensive length of his life in penal complex. Our thoughts remain with Reece’s household and mates who indulge in been left devastated by his death.
“Our investigation made it very clear that Munoz had no qualms about carrying a knife or using it against someone who obtained in his procedure. It took appropriate seconds for him to snatch one other life and that’s why our top priority continues to be identifying those that raise weapons and are intent on causing violence.
“Closing 365 days saw a principal lower in knife crime but we know there is more to finish and our officers will continue using everything in their energy to are attempting those intent on committing violent crime on our streets.”
