First and foremost, you need to have an Amazon account, which can be done for free. And if you have an Amazon Prime subscription, you can get additional offers and cashback on select payments you can make using Amazon Pay. Another advantage of Amazon Pay is that it does not fail like UPI payments.
To access Amazon Pay, you need an Android or iOS device. Note that there is no dedicated Amazon Pay app on either platform. However, Amazon Pay must be accessed through the Amazon app. While you can load money from a PC, to spend it in a store, you need a phone.
Note that, unlike UPI, you cannot pay every vendor using apps and services like Google Pay, Paytm, and PhonePe. When you load money into an Amazon Pay wallet, you can spend it on Amazon or pay a vendor that accepts Amazon Pay.
How to add money to Amazon Pay
- Open the Amazon app on your smartphone and make sure you’re logged in.
- On the homepage, you will see an option called Amazon Pay. Click on it.
- In the next menu, you have four quick actions menu options. Select the third option that says “add money.”
- The next page will show details like Amazon Pay balance and gift card balance.
- Now, go to the “add money to balance” option. You can add from Re 1 to Rs 1,00,000 at a time to your Amazon Pay account.
- Type the desired amount you want to add to your Amazon Pay balance and complete the payment using debit, credit, or UPI.
Currently, Amazon does not charge anything extra to load money into a Pay account. If you load Rs 1,000, the same will be deducted from your bank account. And once you add money to the Amazon Pay wallet, it can’t be transferred back to your bank account.
