Lancers blank Charger
EDINBURGH – MacKenzie Bieker went 3 for 3 with three home runs and seven RBIs and threw a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts Wednesday to lead Edinburgh to an 11-0, five-inning Mid-Hoosier Conference win. victory over North Decatur.
Gracie Crawhorn went 3 for 3 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs for the Lancers (5-5, 3-1). Kenna Streeval went 2-for 3 with a double.
Braves eagles
TRAFALGAR – Brown County broke open a 1-1 game with three runs in the fourth and held on for a 5-2 Western Indiana Conference win at Indian Creek.
Ava Sanders threw a seven-hitter and struck out eight for the Eagles (2-6, 1-3). Savannah Oden went 2-for-3 with a double.
Panthers on the side of dragons
NORTH VERNON – Jennings County led 1-0 after six innings, but Silver Creek scored twice in the top of the seventh to take a 2-1 victory.
The Panthers (9-4) beat the Dragons 4-3. Kenzie Matern and Jillian Brauer combined for a three-hitter.
BOYS GOLF
The Lancers got the tri
Hauser’s Caleb Wallace won medalist honors with a 5-over-par 41, but Edinburgh edged the Jets 182-187 at Clifty Creek. Waldron finished third with a 203.
Max Blandford led the Lancers with 42. Mason Calhoun had 43, Wyatt Burton added 48, Gabe Bennett had 49 and Devyn Milburn had 50.
Hunter Pappano scored 42 for Hauser. Marshall Moody added 49, Brenden Burton scored 55 and Sam Hoene had 58.
TRACK AND LUMAN
The jet boys are second
HOPE — Hauser’s boys finished second in a home tri meet. Triton Central won the boys meet with 74 points to 55 for the Jets and 23 for Waldron, while Triton took the girls meet with 82 points to 32 for Waldron and 28 for Hauser.
Norah Berkenstock led the Jet girls with wins in the 100 meters (14.18 seconds) and 300 hurdles (54.40).
Hauser boys winners were Ledger Gelfius in the high jump (5 feet, 5 inches), Cameron Toole in the 400 (52.69) and Colin Kistler in the 3,200 (11:23.61). The Jets also took the 4×800 relay (10:00.85).
BASEBALL
Shawe stopped the Cougars
MADISON – Shawe Memorial scored five times in the first inning and went on to post a 7-3 victory over South Decatur.
Dale Peters had an RBI-double for the Cougars (6-2).
The Eagles fell to the Braves
TRAFALGAR – Indian Creek scored 20 times in the first three innings en route to a 22-2 five-inning WIC victory over Brown County.
Jade Wollems went 2-for-3 for the Eagles (1-6, 1-4).
The Chargers topped the Lancers
EDINBURGH – Edinburgh led 1-0 after two innings, but North Decatur scored eight runs in the third and went on to post a 17-1, five-inning MHC victory.
Jared Myers went 2-for-2 for the Lancers (1-8, 1-5).
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Columbus beat the Royals
Liberty Jones scored 10 goals on Tuesday to lead Columbus to an 18-7 victory over Roncalli.
Rylie Boezeman scored five goals for Columbus. Kasey Kelley scored two goals, Avery Stultz added a goal and Jayden Cross had an assist.
