NEW ULM – Brown County commissioners unanimously approved the purchase of two trailers for portable radar speed signs on April 18.
The action came on a motion by Commissioner Tony Berg, seconded by Scott Windschitl to purchase two Kayak & Water Sports trailers for $2,500 each plus design drafting time from Teske Manufacturing, Springfield.
Other bids received were $4,925 per trailer from TAPCO and $399.99 per trailer plus additional parts and materials and manufacturing time from Northern Tool Co.
Two radar speed warning signs are being purchased by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department in the fall of 2022 to be deployed at various locations in the county. The highway department is tasked with building and/or acquiring trailers for the signs for transportation and setup.
Commissioners agreed to purchase the power broom from RDO for the state’s $83,923 bid price, allowing for a $13,500 trade-in value for the 2013 Superior Broom. The action came on a motion by Commissioner Tony Berg, seconded by Windschitl.
Berg added the stipulation that instead of a $13,500 trade-in, the old broom will be sold to the county MnBID for at least $18,000.
