THUNDER BAY – Third-year Aerospace Manufacturing Technology students from Confederation College presented their final projects on Friday, from carbon fiber bikes to model rockets.
The projects, which they started in September, require students to use everything they’ve learned over the past three years to design and build a device of their choice, then present the entire process to their peers. and professors.
A total of 6 students presented their projects on Friday, which ranged from a watch body and strap to a model rocket.
Jaspreet Singh ended up creating a carbon fiber bike frame for his final that is so light you can lift it with two fingers.
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, like a carbon fiber bike frame, it’s like really cool and everything,” he said.
“That is something that has always interested me, but the thing is to make it empty is a big task for me, but I have to come up with a new idea and the professor helped me a lot in this and it looks like it came out. really good. Since I’m using pre-carbon fiber, I have to do a lot of prototyping as you can see all these things.

Vedangbhai Patel also made his last project out of carbon fiber, but instead of a bicycle frame, he made a car spoiler. He said it’s something he’s always wanted to do since the program started.
[The idea] There are a lot of feelings attached to mine, so that’s what I always wanted to do in the game, around carbon fiber and I have all the access to all the machines here at the college,” he said.
“So, I was like, why not take a chance and bring something exciting, I was like 19 and I wanted to do something that was really, really interesting to me.”
