Meet Anushka Scandalous, a 46-year-conventional woman who has such an attachment to her greeting cards that she’s saved nearly 1,000 of them, some dating back to the 1980s. Anushka has stuffed dozens of shoeboxes with sentimental cards acquired by her family over the years for various occasions.
Speaking about her collection, Anushka says the cards have ‘taken over’ her London dwelling, which she shares with her forty five year conventional husband and two youngsters aged 13 and 12.
The mum-of-two reveals that objects savor birthday cards can take a seat proudly on the mantelpiece for months as a heartwarming reminder of delicate events that have passed. They’re only eliminated to display the subsequent dwelling of cards.
Anushka commented: “I love greeting cards they’ve always held a special place in my heart. If you look back on them, from over the years, it tells a story – who your friends were, the jokes you made, or family that might not be here.”
Anushka has ingeniously maximised her living space by dedicating hours to creating photograph albums, with one particularly cherished album reserved completely for cards from their 2007 marriage ceremony.
She says her admire for greeting cards sparked at some stage in her teenage years, as she recalls: “I have cards dating back to when I was aged 16 probably even younger.” Now, Anushka is an avid collector, carefully holding each card despatched to her or her family.
This card-conserving progress mirrors research carried out by Funky Pigeon, showing that 39 per cent of Britons treasure each card they obtain as mementos of their family individuals.
The research highlights that 84 per cent of oldsters feel a tangible card carries more emotional weight than any digital version. With the tradition of sending cards remaining solid.
Then again, forty eight per cent acknowledge they may attain higher at remembering important dates throughout the year as Christmas is considered probably the most crucial time to send a card, adopted by significant birthdays and moments requiring sympathy.
