The storms hit the area Friday and brought the threat of severe weather to the Philadelphia region, including tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings.
The latest tornado warning is in effect until 1:30 pm for northeast Burlington and northwest Ocean counties in New Jersey. If you are in those areas seek shelter and away from windows ASAP. If you don’t have a basement, hunker down in an interior bathroom.
Several tornado warnings were issued Friday morning, with one issued at 11:33 a.m. for areas around the Main Line in the Pennsylvania suburbs west of Philadelphia.
The tornado warning ended at noon but the threat of severe weather remains with severe thunderstorm warnings and possible wind damage looming over the area.
NBC10 First Alert Weather meteorologist Justin Godynick tracks the severe storms that rumbled through the Philadelphia region on Friday. Many areas saw thunderstorm warnings and some had tornado warnings.
The storm’s path leads from Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania suburbs and the South Jersey side of the Delaware River, and severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for the entire area. Straight line winds are a threat from these storms, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms affected air traffic at Philadelphia International Airport, and a ground stop affected flights as severe thunderstorms approached.

Just before 11 a.m., a tornado warning was also issued for parts of Lancaster County, west of Chester County in Pennsylvania. That warning has expired.
Around 11:10 a.m., a tornado warning was issued for parts of Chester and Berks counties, including Honey Brook, Elverson and Morgantown. The warning expired at 11:45 am
