The substantial promise of Todd Phillips’ Joker was stripping out the titular character’s droll e book parts and displaying what would happen if a regular man in Eighties Gotham made up our minds to placed on clown makeup. (Turns out, things didn’t skedaddle successfully, mainly for everyone else around him.) A young Bruce Wayne is within the original movie, and you may be wondering what would happen if an adult Batman met this version of his nemesis. According to director/creator Todd Phillips, he thinks Arthur Fleck would factual mediate Batman’s neat. (You’re haunted, I’m sure.)
In a latest IGN interview, Phillips explained how Arthur would “be in awe of the alpha male that is Batman. I mediate [he’d] gape up and appreciate it.” In his read, Arthur is “fascinated by males at ease,” such as his hang coworkers and Robert De Niro’s talk explain host Murray Franklin from the primary movie. Those males are every thing he’s not, and why wouldn’t that lengthen to Batman? Presumably, this Batman is aware of Arthur’s chargeable for his parents’ homicide, but maybe they can pass past that.
The original Joker ended with Arthur eventually losing his chilly so bad he shot Murray within the face on live TV, so that fascination clearly has a restrict. Unruffled, Phillips’ comments obtain at something, namely how Arthur has been very rapid to fall in adore, either romantically or platonically. However Warner Bros. is probably not attracted to making the decades of subtext between Bats and Jokes into actual textual scream, or at least no more than what Lego Batman already did back in 2017. Serious about Arthur’s good fortune with of us he crushes on, anything between this Clown Prince and a Dark Knight mature adequate to punch his face in would probably lead to a bad romance.
