Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has not announced whether he will run against Donald Trump for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, but he indicated Thursday that he will not be Trump’s vice-presidential running mate. (See the video below.)
Asked by Newsmax’s Eric Bolling if he wanted to join the Trump ticket, DeSantis said:
“I think I’m probably more of an executive guy. I think you want to make things happen. That’s part of the reason I got into this job, because we have action. We can make things happen, and I think that might be the best fit for me.”
DeSantis and Trump have emerged as the Republican favorites in the GOP race. The feud between the two has escalated recently.
DeSantis took aim at Trump by saying that he himself would not know how to pay “hush money” to a “porn star.” The comment was interpreted as a snarky nod to the Stormy Daniels payoff case that threatened Trump with an indictment.
Meanwhile Trump, who has called the governor “Ron DeSanctimonious” and recently added “Ron DeSoros” to his nicknames, fired back with a screenshot that spread a baseless rumor that DeSantis was dating drink underage girls as a high school teacher.
