Plans to turn a former Cardiff strip club into a nightclub have been approved. Nine Yards S.Wales Restricted applied to vary the licence at the basement in 93 St Mary Road, which dilapidated to be Silks @ 93 Gentlemans Club and Late Bar.
The premises, now called Six Ft Beneath, no longer has its sexual entertainment licence following Cardiff Council’s licensing sub-committee’s approval of the application on Wednesday, September 18, and this can now operate as a nightclub and events venue. Local councillors raised some issues about the plan.
Speaking on behalf of her fellow ward contributors for Cathays Cllr Norma Mackie said she and her colleagues welcomed the change of train of the premises from a strip club but feared placing off seating may well create an increased threat with of us tantalizing over a prolonged time frame. One of many directors at Nine Yards S.Wales Restricted, Matteo Cutrupi, said the venue hasn’t faced any incidents of disorder whereas operating as a nightclub beneath temporary event notices. He added that the venue will aid digital tune events and host DJs about six occasions a month.

Six Ft Beneath has a capacity of about 150 of us and has a licence to stay inaugurate till 6am from Monday to Sunday. We feel that this could encourage increased consumption of alcohol leading to a breach of the licensing objectives of the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, and the protection of public nuisance.”
