The latest cuts, aimed at helping the company cut costs, will affect employees at several Meta products, including Facebook, Instagram and whatsappaccording to Bloomberg.
In addition to the 10,000 cuts, Zuckerberg last month said that the Meta too 5,000 papers will not be filled in an effort to be more efficient.
A Meta spokesperson confirmed to CNBC on Wednesday that the cuts have begun.
The outlet reported the layoff announcements of employees with technical backgrounds such as software engineering, programming and user experience.
Other business-facing papers are expected to face cuts starting in May, our colleague Stephen Neukam reports.
Meta told The Hill it had no comment on the layoffs but pointed to an announcement from Zuckerberg in March that said the company expected to “restructure and lay off our tech teams in late April.”
Meta’s latest cuts come amid job cuts across the technology industryeven with other tech giants like Amazon and Google.
