“Our business is in a constant battle to not become a product, meaning someone who can be easily replaced by the next,” said Jacob Craton, president of Rolling Wave Capital.
For Craton, this means competition.
“You have to try to find the things that separate you from everyone else,” Craton said.
He found it in artificial intelligence.
“As a digital assistant, at least, it’s the most powerful tool that exists,” Craton said.
It compiles complex earnings reports from large public companies.

“ChatGPT allows me to summarize those, get an idea of what’s working, what’s not and change the portfolios based on the previous quarter’s earnings performance,” Craton said.
And now other apps are popping up, advertised as artificial intelligence assistants.
Infostream technology expert Alan Crowetz said that even he found ways to use artificial intelligence to increase the exposure of his website.
“In one week, I had the biggest win I’ve had in years,” Crowetz said. “It’s shooting for white-collar jobs, big time.”
That thought crossed Craton’s mind.
“If it continues, it will become a competitor,” Craton said. “But it’s still not a person sitting across from you with real emotion as if it’s lived.”
From task management, summarizing documents, organizing calendars, these business owners say there’s more artificial intelligence can do for free or as their cheapest employee. – and it’s very clever.
“I always say please to it,” said Craton. “If this thing is going to be like Terminator 2.”
