Kylie Minogue held back tears on The One Demonstrate as she recalled the emotional reason behind her duet with pop icon Madonna. The Australian pop star sat on the BBC One show hide’s sofa on Friday (September 27) to promote her worldwide tour, with tickets already being snapped up by followers.
The discussion grew to turn into to Kylie’s fresh efficiency with Madonna, as they performed a hide of Gloria Gaynor’s hit I Will Live on in June in Los Angeles. “The request came through her manager. I’ve known him for many years, and I just presumed when I was asked to join her on stage, it would be her Vogue section, where she has a different guest every night that holds up the card. It’s like 10 out of 10. It was to do a cover of ‘I Will Survive’.
Holding back the tears, Kylie continued: “And her reasoning for that was twofold – one which she sadly lost her mother to breast most cancers, and she knew about some of my memoir, and likewise honest being two ladies who survived in the unreal, and so it was honest in actuality fantastic moment, and likewise some of us going ‘Oh, is this in actuality occurring?’
“I have some friends who will not forgive me (and said) – ‘Why didn’t you tell me?’ I just kept it as a surprise”
She joked: “I may have lost some friends but I did get to sing with Madonna!”
