The Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Bureau announced on Wednesday that it is optimizing online reservations for exit and entry permit services to meet the growing demand for outbound travel.
According to the bureau, the number of days open for online reservations will be extended to 30. The daily reservation quota will also be increased.
People under the age of 16, residents aged 60 and over, as well as those who need to travel urgently must go to the city’s 20 exit-entry permit handling halls with the necessary materials in apply for permits. Everyone must make an online reservation before proceeding to the halls.
Cross-border travel has increased significantly since China adjusted its measures to contain the COVID-19 epidemic in late December. The number of travelers is expected to grow further as normal travel between mainland China and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao resumes on February 6.
