Erik Menendez has strongly criticised Hollywood producer Ryan Murphy and Netflix for the “dishonest portrayal” of his fogeys’ murders.
Menendez, who together along with his brother, Lyle, become convicted of killing their fogeys at their Beverly Hills home in 1989, shared his emotions in regards to the miniseries Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Fable in an announcement shared by his accomplice, Tammie, on X.
“I believed we had moved beyond the lies and ruinous character portrayals of Lyle, creating a caricature of Lyle rooted in horrible and blatant lies rampant in the show,” the assertion began. “I can only believe they were done so on purpose. It is with a heavy heart that I say, I believe Ryan Murphy cannot be this naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives so as to do this without bad intent.”
Menendez added, “How demoralising to know that one man with power can undermine decades of progress in shedding light on childhood trauma.”
On the time of the trial, the brothers claimed their father, a broken-down govt at RCA Files, abused them physically, sexually, and emotionally at some stage in their childhood.
In Monsters, Lyle is performed by Nicholas Alexander Chavez whereas Cooper Koch portrays Erik.
Oscar-winner Javier Bardem plays patriarch José Menendez within the series, whereas Oscar nominee Chloë Sevigny stars as the boy’s mother, Kitty.
Murphy is a famend creator, director and producer within the support of hits just like Nip/Tuck, Glee and American Dread Fable.
