Tensions remain high after an unprecedented series of drone attacks in Moscow damaged buildings on Tuesday, the first strikes to hit civilian areas in the Russian capital since the invasion of Ukraine in early 2022. Russia said it destroyed all the drones – which it blamed Kyiv. Ukraine denies any direct involvement in the attacks.
Ukrainians in their capital, Kyiv, woke up to parts of the city being destroyed on Wednesday, following a series of airstrikes. Debris from a drone killed at least one person and injured more than a dozen others.

US on Turkey: It’s time for Sweden to join NATO. Turkey has been dragging its feet for months on allowing Sweden to join NATO, but Blinken said there is no reason to further delay the country’s entry into the military alliance, Missy Ryan reports from Lulea , Sweden.
“We will be better when the process is over. And so we urge Turkey and Hungary, which have not yet ratified, to ratify their accession as soon as possible,” Blinken told reporters, using the official Turkish name. “There is no reason for more time; Sweden is ready now. … The time is now.”
