US regulators shut down Silicon Valley Bank on Friday after it experienced a traditional bank run, in which depositors rush to withdraw funds all at once. New York-based Signature Bank also collapsed.
President Biden said Monday morning that the nation’s financial systems are safe, and called for calm after the deaths of two banks. The President also pushed for better supervision and regulation of the big banks.
