John Travolta choked up as he remembered his former friend Olivia Newton-John while introducing the “In Memoriam” segment at the 95th Academy Awards.

Giving an emotional nod to herGrease costar, the actor said, “In this industry, we have the unique luxury of doing what we want for a living, and sometimes doing it with the people we love.”
“As tonight is a celebration of the work and accomplishments of our community and this past year, it is only fitting that we celebrate those lost who gave their lives to their work, in front of and behind the camera,” he added. .
“Through their immeasurable contributions, each of them left an individual and indelible mark that shared and informed us,” Travolta continued. “They touched our hearts. They made us smile, and became dear friends to whom we will always remain hopelessly devoted.”
Newton-John breathed his last in 2022 at the age of 73. After his death, Travolta released a tribute for the actor praising his “unbelievable” impact.
“My dear Olivia, you make all of our lives better,” Travolta wrote at the time. “Your impact is unbelievable. I love you so much.”
He added, “See you on the road and we will all be together again.” Yours from the moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”
